Since many weeks I saw my friend Niru playing IPL(Cric Xchange) app on Orkut using his wife's id as Orkut Apps wasn't enabled for his id. I was wondering why Orkut hasn't enabled this new feature for everybody on Orkut, normally they choose random users and enable new features only to them. But this time, there was a pattern, only people in India had got this feature and very few people outside India, as far as I have observed. As per the usage, Orkut must have enabled this new feature to people in India and maybe Brazil too, as these are the two countries where there are highest users of Orkut.

This trick is for all those Indians who haven't got that feature..(not really a trick..just a…)

How to enable Orkut Applications for your profile?

1. Login to Orkut using your account

2. Edit your profile, change the country to India.

3. You will see a block on the left side below the profile photo called "Apps"

4. Click on Add and you will see a directory of the 'Applications'

5. Add Applications & njoy !

I donna how many of you have encountered these problems , but i do ..Some of them very frequent. 

- The Gmail just moves onto the left or right side of the browser - the rest of the page eaten off..

here is a screenshot.. have a look . 

- Gmail showing this message very frequently .( loading problem - maybe due to speed) 

This is shown very frequently …. ( note: i am on broadband connection )

- Problem with Google chat , many a times it says " connecting …) and we are back..

- One of the weird things ever happened. for example x is my friend and y is my sister. I saw the id of x being online and started chatting, but i was actually chatting with y. i.e the id being online which was shown was of x but i was really chatting with y . This is happening since many days already and for those two particular ids only. I donna how come Id's get swapped.. Some serious problem in Gmail .

So jaago Google team ! Something's wrong with Google Mail…

According to TechCrunch and USA Today - Yahoo is to close its popular Yahoo Photos service completely in the coming months, telling people to either switch to Flickr or leave to a number of other competing photo sharing services.

But when i visited it today morning , it dosen't seem anything like that.. Moreover the old page is changed and has a new look..

S what does all this mean ? Are they going to force everybody to shift to Flickr ? or Let users use both !! wait and watch !!

DivX is really a great software , as i always compress videos using their DivX codec  and its fantastic..DivX just rocks ! 

I have done the above steps too..waiting for my DivX Pro.This is a nice kinda of viral marketing ..spreading about their software without any cost. This is pretty great idea !!

IBM on Thursday said it's building a specialized-version of the mainframe that would incorporate the Cell processor used in Sony's PlayStation 3 videogame console. The new computer is designed to power 3-D virtual environments for online gaming, business collaboration, mapping, and other applications requiring intensive data processing.

The project, which includes the help of Brazilian online game company Hoplon Infotainment, is meant to develop a new, and potentially lucrative, use for the mainframe, which has traditionally been used in banking, manufacturing, and other industries that need to process hundreds, if not thousands, of transactions a second.

The mainframe is an ideal platform for virtual environments, particularly online gaming, because of its ability to run multiple processors for computing-intensive applications, while also handling millions of simultaneous users, according to IBM. "As online environments increasingly incorporate aspects of virtual reality — including 3-D graphics and lifelike, meaningful real-time interaction among many simultaneous users — companies of all types will need a computing platform that can handle a broad spectrum of demanding performance and security requirements," Jim Stallings, general manager for IBM System z, said in a statement.

Hubble celebrates its 17th anniversary and gives the world a big present—a 29,566 x 14,321 pixel image (500 MB TIFF image) of the Carina Nebula*. For those who don't feel like downloading the entire TIFF image, there is a JPEG available for download from the same site; however, it is still nearly 250MB in size(pretty big).  If you click on the image shown here in this article, you will get a  download-friendly version of the spectacular image. 

This painterly picture brings the total number of images that Hubble has taken since 1990 to nearly 500,000.

To date, the telescope has made nearly 800,000 observations of more than 25,000 celestial objects and has traveled 2.4 billion miles (3.8 billion kilometers)—the equivalent of flying to Saturn and back.

"FON is still giving away their wireless routers for free in Germany and Austria until Wednesday — under the premise that the devices will be connected and used as FON access points.

The router, called 'La Fonera,' is a variant of OpenWRT, but locked down to prevent modification, including a signed firmware image to prevent the upload of new software. It is, however, possible to get shell access by connecting to a serial port present on the circuit board.

And now two students from Germany have discovered vulnerabilities in the CGI scripts used to configure the device, and successfully activated an SSH daemon on the device by exploiting them, giving owners a root shell on their router. They also provide a detailed description of the procedure and 'ready-to-use' perl scripts to open up your router."
